| "The magic of the moment, light illuminating land or sea, the essence of the scene captured forever", these are the elements which bring a feeling of joy and beauty to the artistry of Denis Chasse's paintings, and Katheryn's photography.
Denis received his training at the Art Institute of Boston from 1976 to 1978 where he received the Certificate of Merit for his art. He continued his training at the Paul Goodridge Art Studio, Salem, Ma. from 1979 to 1983. It was under the mentorship of Mr. Goodridge that Denis learned the techniques of the Gloucester School of Outdoor Painting founded by Emile Gruppe in the early 1930's. These techniques emphasize the use of bold color applied with expressive brushstrokes, creating a vibrant impression of a scenes and seascapes.
Denis and Katheryn operate the Chasse' Fine Art Gallery in the quaint village of Chester, Vermont just up from the village green on Main St. This husband and wife artist team capture the many distinctive moods and seasons of New England , as well as, Williamsburg Virginia where the couple lived for thirteen years. While in Virginia, the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation purchased the rights to make a Christmas card from Denis' painting, "The Olde Boot Shop at Christmas".
Both Denis and Katheryn have exhibited throughout New England and in Virginia at the following: the Newburyport Art Assoc. in Ma., the Southern Vermont Art Assoc. in Manchester, Vt., Mt. Washington Valley Art Assoc. in N.H., Twentieth Century Gallery and Trimble Collection Gallery in Williamsburg, Va., On the Hill Gallery in Yorktown, Va., and Home Port Gallery on Hatteras Island, N.C. |
